On May 11, 1885, the members of the Detroit Poor Commission became Superintendents of the Poor by the act if the legislature. After this date the Board consists of seven members: three appointed by the Board of County Auditors to serve three years each; four appointed by the Mayor of Detroit to serve four years each.
In the following list of members the first three in each year are the county members, the following four, city members.
