Eloise: Then, and now combined overlay. Kroger (bottom left) sits directly east of where J Building was, south of L Building, and north of H Building. Right in the middle of the former psychiatric building complex. (Thanks to Jeffery Todd for this idea!)
Just added a new photo gallery courtesy of one of our Facebook Group Members. She did a tour of “D” Building in the Fall of 2018 which was hosted by Detroit Paranormal Expeditions. She was kind enough to let us use her photos on the site. Thanks, Lena! You can view the gallery below, and it has also been posted to our Photo Gallery page.
William J. Seymour hospital (“C” Building) Submitted by Kathleen Abbey. Dr. Seymour organized the first medical staff at Eloise. Therefore, a hospital on the grounds was appropriately deemed the William J. Seymour Hospital. You can read more about the hospital in our detailed Building Appendix.
FROM OUR E-MAIL: Attached is a post card of the Detroit, Ypsilanti, Ann Arbor & Jackson Railroad station at Eloise. According to HISTORY OF ELOISE (1913) Page 357, the first electric rail car reached Eloise on April 24, 1898. The motorman (driver) on that car was Daniel Sullivan a former Eloise employee. Dan Sullivan is my great-grandfather and I have the original HISTORY OF ELOISE book that was given to him. – THOMAS P.
If you have any of the above, please feel free to share your story, memory, artifact, photo, etc with us here at Tales Of Eloise. It may end up on our main site!
I am always open and ready to receive any stories, comments or otherwise you have about Eloise. Even the ghost ones are welcome! If you believe you have had an experience there or have had one in the past, please share via e-mail.
